Obsessive Compulsive Disorder, people confuse an OCD with being clean and tidy, but it’s often more than that, it’s a fear of not doing things the right way too, you have no control over negative thoughts, no matter what you think, you can only think negative thoughts, this leads to stress, anxiety, panic attacks, including isolation and shutting yourself away.

OCD causes many issues in your daily life. It can impact on relationships, cause issues in your employment role, stop you from going outside, making you feel lonely, anxious and embarrassed about your compulsive thoughts.

OCD affects so many people in so many ways, some people find they have obsessive thoughts over a relationship, causing them to end the relationship to get rid of the thoughts, when in fact nothing is happening but love for them.

Some people have a fear that something very bad will happen if everything isn’t correct, in the right place at the right time, everything must be perfect or things will all go wrong.
Sometimes you will ask people repeatedly to reassure you everything will be alright. You could ask someone to check and check again the same thing to make sure it’s okay.

OCD isn’t just about being obsessed about keeping things clean, you can get OCD in so many ways, extreme situations can cause people to avoid certain things, for instance, if you have these continued thoughts of running someone over in a car, you would avoid cars and possible avoid going on any forms of transport.

Peoples thoughts can be so strong they would stay within a particular confinement to avoid seeing people or going out in public in fear of thoughts coming true.

Some peoples thoughts are about scrubbing their hands, this can be so severe that they can actually cause their hands to become sore and painful, this can cause the onset of stress and anxiety as people will stress continually about cleaning their hands.

Some people will become confined to the four walls in their own home causing loneliness to set in.

The circle can be vicious and horrible.

There are many ways of overcoming OCD, some of these suggestions involve medication like anti-depressants, some other remedies include talking to therapists, to cognitive therapy this is where your negative thoughts & behaviours are changed into positive feelings about yourself.
